CAFFEINE IN TEA Although most people who seek out caffeine jump straight to coffee for their morning ritual, many forget that tea can also contain a quality amount of caffeine to get your day started. What can be confusing though is that, while coffee always has an acceptable amount of caffeine (sans decaf), tea’s caffeine levels can vary from the leaf you choose to your preferred steep time and method. Today, I’d like to go over a few ways to get the most caffeine out of your tea, along with, which teas to choose if you’re looking to lower your caffeine consumption.

Tea is still a mystery to me. I’ve been trying, I really have. Every few days I’ll try a cup from the collection of tea I’ve acquired yet nothing has left me smiling. Sorry to disappoint, but even my latest taste tests were underwhelming. Recently I sipped on Steven Smith Teamaker – Kandy, a full leaf black tea. The blend is named after on of Sri Lanka’s most beautiful cities. The blend combines three Ceylon teas (teas from Sri Lanka): Dimbulla, Uva, and Nuwara Eilya.  Each of these teas have their own characteristics that, when combined with the other two, are accentuated to make a full bodied, flavorful tea. (Just because I don’t prefer it, doesn’t mean I can’t judge it).
